Admissions
Information to help patients and families understand the admission process and prepare for an inpatient stay.
How admission works
Patients may be admitted from Accident & Emergency, outpatient or specialist clinics, maternity, planned procedures, or through referral from another health facility.
The admission process
- Registration and cover. Your admission is recorded and your health cover or payment arrangements are verified.
- Clinical assessment. A clinician determines whether inpatient care is required and explains the recommended treatment.
- Ward allocation. You are assigned to the appropriate ward based on your condition and care needs.
- Admission assessment. The nursing team records your observations, medicines, allergies and other relevant information before care begins.
What to pack
Bring your National ID, referral letter if you have one, SHA or other health-cover details, and any medicines or medical records you may need. Pack basic personal items for your stay and leave valuables at home. Our admissions team will guide you through the process.
Discharge
Before leaving, you will receive discharge instructions, prescribed medicines where applicable and information about your follow-up or review appointment.
