Chest and TB Services
The Chest and TB Clinic provides diagnosis, treatment and follow-up care for tuberculosis (TB) and other respiratory conditions. The clinic works closely with the laboratory and imaging departments to support appropriate diagnostic investigations, including sputum testing and chest X-ray.
TB diagnosis and treatment are provided free of charge under the national TB programme. Patients receiving TB treatment should complete the prescribed course, even when symptoms improve.
The clinic provides:
- TB screening, diagnosis and testing, including sputum microscopy and chest X-ray
- TB treatment, monthly clinical review and adherence support
- Screening and follow-up of household and close contacts
- Investigation and treatment of respiratory and chest infections
- Referral for specialist respiratory assessment where required
When to seek assessment
Patients should seek medical assessment if they have a cough lasting more than two weeks, coughing up blood (haemoptysis), night sweats, or unexplained weight loss. Early assessment can help facilitate timely diagnosis and treatment.
